Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership Program is currently accepting applications with a deadline of February 8. This exceptional opportunity is free and open to Maine high school sophomores or juniors. It includes a nine-day wilderness experience in Baxter State Park working with a variety of specialists and Park staff to better understand wilderness through science, art, storytelling, photography, writing, history and recreation.

New Mitchell Scholarship Application Dates for 2024–2025 - please note the earlier application deadline of MARCH 1st - this new schedule will give interested students the February winter break to work on applications! In addition to the $10,000 scholarship (paid in four annual and equal installments of $2,500), Mitchell Scholars receive access to a broad range of free programs, resources, and additional funding opportunities — throughout your college years and beyond. Also as a Mitchell Scholar, you will have access to ongoing events and a vast network of over 3,000 Mitchell Scholar Alumni around the world! Apply today for a Maine Blue Collar Scholarship! This scholarship is open to all students in Maine entering a trade school or heading directly into the workforce; scholarships range from $1000 - $2500! All scholarship recipients are also eligible to utilize the money in the form of a tool-ship. Once you have purchased tools required of your trade, they will reimburse you for the amount you were awarded. This will help you jump-start your career! Recipients will be announced during Senior Scholarship Night in May. The General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC Maine) and the Maine Council for Elder Abuse Prevention (MCEAP) are working together to raise awareness about elder abuse in Maine. GFWC Maine and MCEAP are pleased to announce a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded to a Maine student who has successfully completed requirements for graduation from a Maine high school in 2025 and who will be attending college or a certification program as a full-time student during the 2025-2026 academic year. A winner will also be selected from each participating county and will be awarded a $50 scholarship! Criteria for selection include an essay and academic average. Completed applications should contain: 1. A 550–650 word, double-spaced essay in response to the question: “What is elder abuse and what is your solution?” 2. Copy of high school transcript. 3. Letter of acceptance from college or university as soon as possible but due no later than May 1st. Deadline: Postmarked by April 1, 2025 For any interested students, applications are available in the Guidance Office!

Since 2001, Mainely Character has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors who demonstrate courage, integrity, responsibility, and concern for others. They focus solely on those areas of character when determining awardees. Their goal this year is to award 13 scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each! Congratulations to Poetry Out Loud winner Abigail McCrillis and runners up Amelia Olaru and Aspenelle De Los Reyes. Abigail will represent GHS at the regional competition in Lewiston at the Public Theatre on February 4th.
The Landing School of Boatbuilding & Design is having a handful of different Open House times; attached is their latest Open House schedule!
