GHS Educator Earns Statewide Honor: Coach Sam Lenson Named PE Teacher of the Year!
We are excited to share some fantastic news with our Ram community! Our new Physical Education teacher, Sam Lenson, has been named the 2026 Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year by Maine AHPERD (Maine Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance).
This award highlights Coach Lenson’s dedication to student health, teamwork, and inclusive physical activity. Prior to joining GHS, Coach Lenson created adaptive sports opportunities for students of all abilities, coached Unified Basketball, and inspired students to push past their personal goals.
Coach Lenson brings a strong background of academic excellence and athletic leadership to GHS as a former UMaine Division I student-athlete and holder of a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Please join us in celebrating Coach Lenson's achievement and giving him a big Gorham welcome!

Advisory: Week of September 20, 2026
This Monday, during our 15-minute Advisory block, all GHS students will dive into our Gorham High School Vision of a Graduate standards!
During Advisory, students will brainstorm real-world ways they demonstrate these core competencies every day — whether in their academic classes, CTE programs, athletics, clubs, work experiences, or community service.

Important Reminders & Updates
🥗 Maine Harvest Lunch (Thursday, Sept 24): Our school cafeteria is celebrating local agriculture with a special Maine Harvest Lunch menu! Entrée choices include a Cheeseburger from Maine Family Farms or a Quesadilla with local broccoli & tomato. Sides feature local corn on the cob, Snell Farm apples, Caprese salad with GMS-grown basil, Wild Maine blueberry dessert, and local Oakhurst milk. Choose fresh and support our local farmers!
🎓 Senior Advisory Attendance Policy: Advisory programming provides essential college, career, and workplace preparation. Attendance is required for all seniors. The only exception: Seniors are excused from Advisory only if they have approved senior privileges during the periods immediately before and after Advisory on that day. Otherwise, seniors must be present.
💰 Financial Aid Night (Sept 23, 6:00 PM): Seniors and senior families are invited to join our School Counseling team in the GHS Auditorium for an informative presentation on navigating FAFSA, financial aid, and college funding options.
