Four seniors from Ms. Lucinda Stein’s English class at the Gorham School Department have been recognized for their exceptional writing skills in the annual "Arrive Alive" contest. The competition, run by The Offices of Joe Bornstein, awarded multiple top honors to Gorham students for their impactful work this year.
The district proudly celebrates the following senior winners:
Aubriana Cossitt – First Place
Abdul Baset Hamidi – Second Place
Ali Abdulzahra – Second Place
Claudette Wesse – Third Place
School administrators were quick to praise both the students and their instructor. Heather Perry celebrated the sweeping victory, noting that Gorham students "wracked up the awards on this one pretty handily" and praised the "great writing pieces". Brian Jandreau also shared his excitement, thanking Ms. Stein for her hard work with the students and for sharing the wonderful news.
Three of the recognized seniors were able to attend the official awards ceremony in person. A commemorative photograph from the event features Claudette Wesse, Aubriana Cossitt, and Ali Abdulzahra celebrating their achievements. While second-place winner Abdul Baset Hamidi was unable to attend the ceremony due to being out of the country, his outstanding essay was celebrated alongside his classmates.
The award-winning writing pieces can be viewed by the public in the 2026 winner's gallery on the contest website.
Congratulations to these remarkable seniors for their dedication, creativity, and excellent representation of the Gorham community!
