GHS Community & Parent Newsletter
Hello GHS Community,
Welcome to June! We are officially entering the final, celebratory leg of the 2025-2026 school year. This is a highly busy, milestone-filled month for our students, and we want to ensure everyone is tracking the latest updates, leadership achievements, and summer device maintenance requirements.
Spring Fling Success!
We want to extend a huge note of appreciation to our Freshmen Class Officers, their Class Advisor Amy Smith, and our wonderful chaperones Amber Hatch and Todd Smolinsky for hosting a highly successful Spring Fling dance! Our students had an incredible evening, and events like this are only possible because of the hard work of our student organizers and the selflessness of our adult volunteers. Thank you all!

Crucial iPad & Network Policy Updates for 2026-2027
As we prepare for the summer break, Assistant Director of Technology Chris Daggett has provided key baseline instructions regarding school-issued iPads and upcoming network changes:
Important Policy Change Regarding Personal Devices: Under new school department policy and state law alignment, personal devices—including personal laptops and tablets—will no longer be permitted to log onto our school network or school internet starting next school year.
Action Item for BYOD Students (Bring Your Own Device): If your student did not pick up a school-issued iPad this year and instead used their own personal device, they must transition to a school-issued iPad for next year.Personal devices will not be allowed on the school network unless there is a documented need that warrants an explicit exception through the Principal's office. We highly recommend that these students stop by and see Mr. Daggett to pick up their school iPad before the end of this school year so they are fully set up for the fall. The summer protection fee will be waived.
Summer iPad Retention: If your student already has a school-issued iPad and is returning to GHS in the fall, they will keep their student iPad over the summer break.
Early Departures & Transfers: Any student who is graduating early, transferring, or moving out of the district must return their iPad by 2:30 PM on June 17th. Devices can be dropped off in the main office immediately following the completion of their final exams.
2026-2027 Protection Fee: When school resumes in the fall, there will be a mandatory $25 iPad Protection fee for the new school year. Additional information regarding payment options will be sent out via email in late August.
Required Summer Maintenance: To ensure devices remain functional and ready for day one, please ask your student to perform the following quick maintenance tasks at least once during July or August:
Manage Storage: Check Settings > General > Storage to ensure the device isn't full. Delete unnecessary photos, videos, or large apps if space is low. (Apps like Google Classroom can be deleted and reinstalled to clear cached data).
Update Software: Go to Settings > General > Software Update to download and install available iOS updates. This is critical for app compatibility and our school portal.
Pre-School Charging: If your student does not use their iPad all summer, please plug it in to charge a week or two before school starts so they can verify everything works.
Thank you all for your continued partnership as we work together to finish this school year GHS strong!
Go Rams!
