Gorham High School is proud to announce that student Lucas Lane has been selected as a finalist in the Senior Paper category at the National History Day (NHD) Southern Regional Contest.
On March 7, Lucas joined top students from across Southern Maine at the University of Southern Maine in Portland to present his research. His paper, titled "Fed Up: The Reform that Created the Federal Reserve and Revolutionized the American Financial System," offers a deep dive into the historical catalysts and lasting impacts of American financial reform.
National History Day is a highly competitive program that requires students to engage in extensive primary and secondary source research. As a finalist, Lucas will move on to represent Gorham at the state-level contest held at the University of Maine on May 2.
“Lucas has shown incredible dedication to this project,” said Principal Brian Jandreau. “To tackle the origins of the Federal Reserve with such academic rigor is a testament to his hard work and intellectual curiosity.”
