Dear students and families,

Many juniors are preparing to take the SAT this spring. School Counselors want to provide helpful information about registration and test preparation. Please see the information below.

Register for the SAT

Current juniors are encouraged to take the SAT in order to keep postsecondary options open. While many colleges and scholarships are test optional, there are some that require standardized test scores as part of the application and we want students to have everything needed to apply to colleges during their senior year.

Juniors can register now for a spring test date by visiting the:

College Board SAT registration site.

The spring test dates are:

  • Saturday, March 14, 2026

  • Saturday, May 2, 2026

  • Saturday, June 6, 2026

*Make sure you register early for a spring date because the local sites may fill up quickly. If the cost of the SAT causes financial hardship, please discuss this with your school counselor to see if they can help.

If you need help registering for the SAT, the School Counselors are offering help during Advisory on Monday, January 26th (9:15-9:30am). Students need to have their iPad or computer and a credit or debit card to pay the test registration fee. Otherwise, reach out to your school counselor with questions about registration.

There are several free resources to help students prepare for the SAT. Many Gorham students have indicated that the SAT Prep on Khan Academy is extremely valuable because it ties directly to areas that need the most focus based on the results of practice tests that students complete. Regular, consistent study and practice help ease nerves and allows students to feel prepared to take the exam.
