🌟 Welcome Back & Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and restorative winter break. We are excited to welcome students back to the building tomorrow, January 5th. As we begin the new year, we want to extend a special thank you to our School Committee members – Mia DeSanctis, Michelle Littlefield (Vice Chair), Paulette Tateishi, Eric Thistle, Nicole Yeo-Fisher (Chair), Jeffery Ballard, and Lowansa Tompkins – as January is National School Board Appreciation Month.

🎓 Important Reminders

Attendance Policy Clarification: We have noticed an uptick in students arriving late due to "sleeping in" or "just running late." Please be aware that these reasons are considered unexcused, even if a parent or guardian calls to notify the school. Consistent attendance is vital for academic success, especially as we approach the end of the semester.

Midterm Exam Schedule & Attendance (Jan. 20–23): Midterm week is approaching quickly. Please note that students are only required to be at GHS when they have a scheduled exam. Students on campus without an exam must report to the cafeteria for study hall. Click here to download the full midterm schedule: GHS Midterm Exam Schedule 2025-2026

  • Tuesday, Jan. 20: Period 1 (7:50–9:20), Period 2 (9:35–11:05), and Make-Up Period (12:00–1:30).

  • Wednesday, Jan. 21: Period 3 (7:50–9:20) and Period 4 (9:35–11:05).

  • Thursday, Jan. 22: Period 5 (7:50–9:20), Period 6 (9:35–11:05), and Make-Up Period (12:00–1:30).

  • Friday, Jan. 23: Period 7 (7:50–9:20), Period 8 (9:35–11:05), and Make-Up Period (12:00–1:30).

Exam Week Transportation & CTE:

  • Buses: Limited bus transportation will pick up students at GHS at 9:30 AM and 11:15 AM. Full transportation continues at 2:10 PM, with activity buses available Tuesday and Thursday at 4:10 PM.

  • CTE Students: Students attending WRVC or PATHS must be at GHS for their exams but should attend their CTE programs otherwise. Regular CTE transportation will still be provided.

Lunches & Nutrition:

  • Mister Bagel: Fuel up! Breakfast sandwiches will be available all midterm week to help you perform your best.

  • Bag Lunches: The school will provide bag lunches to any student who would like one during exam week.

Clubs and Activities Day (Thursday, Jan. 8):

  • Get Involved: It’s the best way to find students who share your interests, build leadership skills, and make a positive impact on your community.

  • Start Something New: If you have a passion not yet represented, we make it easy to propose and start your own club.

Proposed Cell Phone Policy: The School Committee is currently reviewing a policy for Grades 9-12 that will require phones to be placed in "phone hotels" during class instruction. Usage would remain permitted during lunch and passing periods. We will be surveying students later this week.
