Hello GHS Students and Families,
We have a full and exciting week ahead! Here are the key updates:
🌟 Celebrations
We’re proud to congratulate Mr. Hawkins on having his music education article published in the national Music Educators Journal. We’d also like to give a big thank-you to our Math Department, Ms. Deveaux, and Ms. Bourget for organizing an outstanding Math X experience for students last week.
🏫 Principal Site Visit — Tuesday
Members of the District Leadership Team will be visiting GHS on Tuesday to learn more about our students, classrooms, and school community. They may be visiting classes during Period 4—thank you for giving them a warm GHS welcome!
🕚 Wednesday Early Release
Students will be dismissed at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Buses will run on the early-release schedule.
📅 Thursday EA Day — Possible Schedule Change
Because of possible snow on Tuesday, we are preparing for two scenarios:
• If Tuesday is a snow day: no Clubs & Activities this week; Thursday follows a regular Maroon schedule.
• If Tuesday is a school day: Thursday remains an EA Day with a schedule adjustment so WRVC & PATHS students can attend Period 2. The adjusted order will be: Period 1 → Period 2 → Advisory (EA) → Period 3 → Period 4.
A final confirmation will be shared Wednesday.
🎓 Attention Sophomores: Interested in CTE?
If you might want to apply to a CTE program at WRVC or PATHS, now is the time to explore your options!

A CTE Info Session will be held Thursday, January 8 at 1:00 PM in the MPAC.
💬 Article of the Week: Understanding Teasing
We are highlighting a New York Times article about the difference between playful teasing and hurtful teasing. Healthy teasing involves shared humor and equal power; hurtful teasing targets insecurities or makes someone feel embarrassed or excluded. Families are encouraged to talk about these differences with their students.
🌙 Learning About Holidays at School
Our district guidance reminds us that schools may teach about religion but cannot promote or discourage any belief. We aim to approach all holidays respectfully and inclusively.
