All GHS 9th and 10th grade students are invited to apply for Construction Career Day on Thursday, October 5th in Bath. This is an opportunity to explore career pathways in construction through hands-on experiences and exhibits. Students will be exposed to heavy equipment operation, bridge construction, welding, plumbing, electrical wiring, surveying, and engineering. Accepted students will leave GHS at 9:15 a.m. and return at 2:00 pm. Students must be in good academic standing to participate in the trip.

This school year, we’re planning many opportunities for students to explore their career interests. We're looking for parents, guardians, and community members to join us by participating in Q&A, giving presentations, facilitating a mock interview, leading a hands-on activity, hosting a student for a job shadow, etc.

1. Students must bring their ID card (or at least a picture of their ID card on their phone) in order to get food from the cafeteria. This is true even for free items!

2. Please note that even free items must be scanned. We need to keep track of food that is being consumed in order to receive reimbursement from the government.

3. Students are eligible to receive 1 free breakfast and 1 free lunch each day. Students may purchase a 2nd breakfast or lunch if they choose.

All GHS students interested in exploring careers in healthcare and science are encouraged to join Inside Medicine, a 6-part live Zoom series happening on Wednesday evenings starting in October. Students will explore the fascinating world of medicine, hear from MaineHealth clinical professionals, and solve medical mystery cases with the guidance of Tufts University Medical Students. Applications are due by October 6th.

All GHS students are invited to apply for the ACE Program. ACE participants explore careers in architecture, construction, and engineering through hands-on activities, field trips, and mentorship during a weekly after-school meeting. Students who complete the program have access to a wide range of scholarships, job opportunities, and career guidance.

The Can We? Project is an opportunity for students interested in working together within and across schools in Maine to learn and practice the skills of civil dialogue and to collaborate on common ground issues in order to have a positive impact on our communities. It is a series of 3 day-long retreats that explore civil dialogue and civic engagement through reflection, listening, questioning, and collaboration. Applications are due by October 10th.
