April 1st - 7th is National Division III Week. Division III Week is a positive opportunity for all individuals associated with Division III to observe and celebrate the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on the campus and surrounding community. During the week, every Division III school and conference office is encouraged to conduct a type of outreach activity that falls into one of three categories: academic accomplishment; athletic experience; or leadership/community service/campus involvement.
This year, USM has asked to partner with Gorham High School to spread the value and accessibility of Division III sports in the State. During advisory times that week, student/athletes interested in learning more about college athletics can attend an informational meeting in the gym. They will discuss what it means to play a DIII sport, how it differs from the other divisions, and encourage students to consider trying to play a sport at the DIII level in college. There will be a panel of student athletes and coaches at the meetings.
When:
Monday, April 1st at 9:15 - 9th and 12th graders
Thursday, April 4th at 12:30 - 10th and 11th graders
Interested students will be called to the gym.
