News Update:
A huge congratulations to First Robotics Team 172, the Northern Force, for an incredible 2024 season to date! Our Falmouth and Gorham student’s dedication and hard work have not only secured them the 26nd position at this week's New England District Championships, but also led them to recent competition victories! At this past weekend’s UNH District Event, they snagged both the District FIRST Impact Award, the highest award a team can achieve in the league, and they became a District Competition Winner. But that's not all! The Northern Force shattered a 27-year streak, the second-longest in FRC history, without a District Winner Banner! This year’s robot is ranked in the top 25% world-wide according to Statbotics.io heading into the five-day NE championships. If they do well against the best teams in NE, they are currently in line to be nominated to attend the World Championships over April Break in Huston, TX. In addition, the team's Falmouth and Gorham coaches received the 2024 Volunteer of the Year for their work with the team and broader ME STEM Community.

Impact Award Description
The FIRST Impact Award (formerly the Chairman's Award) is the most prestigious award at FIRST, it honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the mission of FIRST. It was created to keep the central focus of FIRST Robotics Competition on the ultimate goal of transforming the culture in ways that will inspire greater levels of respect and honor for science and technology, as well as encouraging more of today’s youth to become science and technology leaders.

Note: The STEM Coliseum, located at the Maine Mall, is now functioning to serve teams and schools around the state, including Falmouth's possible school needs. Contact me for more details. At least one FRC team residing at the Coliseum has now won every event attended across New England in 2024 totaling Five Blue Banners and 11 performance and engineering awards to date. All Residents teams are now ranked in the top 25 of New England.
