IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR STUDENTS IN DUAL ENROLLMENT OR EARLY COLLEGE CLASSES

Early College Opportunities for Maine Students:

*The Aspirations Program only covers 12 college credits per academic year; this includes courses taken on campus, online and through dual enrollment courses taught at Gorham High School.

More Details:

The
Aspirations Program is available to all eligible Maine high school students and provides up to 12 credit hours per academic year for free. The 2023-2024 academic year began with summer 2023 courses and ends with the spring 2024 courses.

This credit limit applies to all early studies, dual enrollment, or concurrent enrollment courses taken through the University of Maine System and the Maine Community College System, in partnership with the Maine Department of Education.

GHS offers many Dual Enrollment (DE) courses at the high school. These courses count toward the free credits used. If a student registers for more than 12 credit hours during the academic year, they will be charged a reduced tuition rate for the additional credits not covered by Aspirations funding. Students will be billed directly for the overage by the college or university.

If students are notified that they have exceeded their free credits, they may decide to pay for the credits or drop the Dual Enrollment credits but still take the class in order to continue a rigorous course of study at GHS.
