Update from the Eco Club

Some EcoClub (and some Chess Club) members completed a Trash Audit!
1.) We weighed the Compost and Trash as they existed when we entered the cafeteria after school. Compost = 23.4 pounds Trash = 43.8 pounds
2.) We dumped the Compost and removed all trash (mostly tinfoil bowls and plastic cutlery) Trash removed = .6 pounds
3.) We dumped all trash bags (from all three lunches) and removed all Compost (mostly food scraps and paper plates). After removing several returnable bottles (some with liquid in them) and cans, the Final Compost weight = 44 pounds! Final Trash weight = 10 pounds!

Conclusion: The $$ savings are much higher when trash/compost are sorted appropriately, and the Earth appreciates it too!
