GRADUATION 2021 UPDATE Sunday, June 13th at 4:00.

Graduation is on for Sunday, June 13th at 4:00. The weather has changed again: According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will be partly sunny, with a high near 80. It’s going to be a great day!

Please take a moment to read the following very important information about the Graduation, including the ceremony and the convoy:

The Graduation Ceremony
Seniors must be at the high school by 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. They will meet in the gymnasium for last-minute preparations. They should be wearing caps and gowns and all other regalia (e.g. stoles and cords).
Parking along the GHS Stadium Field will not be permitted from Saturday, June 12th at 7:00 p.m. until Monday, June 14th at 7:00 a.m. Any vehicle parked along the Stadium Field during this time frame will be towed at the expense of the vehicle’s owner.
Access Road will be closed from the GHS Parking Lot to Narragansett Street (Route 202) beginning at 2:30 p.m. on June 13th and extending through Graduation.
Parking will be extremely limited! There are only 240 parking spots on the GHS campus. Anyone planning to attend Graduation should make arrangements to carpool, to park off campus and walk, or to park at Gorham Middle School and utilize a shuttle service that we will be running between GMS and GHS. Anyone riding a Gorham bus must wear a mask in the bus and be seated one to a seat unless they are in the same family. The shuttle service will begin at 2:45. It will begin again following the ceremony to transport people back to GMS.
The gates to enter the GHS Stadium will open at 2:30 p.m. for individuals with disabilities and 3:00 p.m. for everyone else. People will be able to enter by GHS or the snack shack. Only those with a ticket will be allowed to enter. For security reasons, backpacks or other large bags will not be permitted; handheld, personal bags may be searched prior to entering.
Seating will be on a first come, first served basis. There will be a section reserved for people with disabilities and a section reserved for staff.
Sign language interpreters will be stationed to the side of the stage closest to GHS; if you require this service, please sit accordingly.
Masks will not be required for graduation.
Restrooms will be available at the snack shack. Food will not be available.
Graduation will be streamed live on the following links (these links will not be active until the start of Graduation):

At the end of the ceremony, graduates will recess to the area between the field and the high school and the bus loop. Families will be asked to wait until the graduates have recessed and then will be invited to exit in an orderly fashion to greet and celebrate with their new high school graduate.
Gorham High School, as are all school facilities, is a tobacco-free zone. Please refrain from bringing any tobacco products, including cigars, on campus. Police will take notice.

Graduation Convoy

The Graduation Convoy is a family event. Seniors with their parents or guardians should arrive in the industrial park at 7:00 p.m. The convoy will depart at 7:30.

Please note that this convoy will be moving at approximately 20 to 25 MPH. Therefore, all traffic laws and rules will apply. This means that people should not throw anything at the convoy or from the convoy (e.g. candy). Also, people may not ride in the back of pickup trucks, trailers, or be seated in any way that is a violation of traffic laws. If we want to be able to continue this fun event, we need everyone to be safe.

At the conclusion of the convoy, graduates will be dropped off at GHS and invited to participate in a closed Project Graduation event. Specific details as to location of Project Graduation and activities will be kept secret until the event.

Finally, we are excited to share a highlight video from yesterday’s Senior Walk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_UhOeyHSFM

Principal Jandreau's Newsletter for the week of May 2, 2021

Good morning,

I hope you have all had a nice weekend!

I apologize in advance for the length of this week's newsletter, but there is a lot of information to share, including the plan for NWEA testing next week, the schedule for final exams and step-up day, next year's bell schedule, Advanced Placement testing, and more. Please take some time to go through this information as it is important that everyone is aware of what happening over the next few weeks.

If you are looking for something to do at noon today, Emily Paruk will be competing in the national semi-finals for Poetry Out Loud. The link is in my newsletter. Good luck, Emily!

Finally, please join me in wishing all of our teachers a very happy Teacher Appreciation Week. I want them to know how important and appreciated they are! Please consider sending each of your teachers an email letting them know how much you appreciate them. Perhaps, you could tell them how much you enjoy their class, something meaningful they have taught you, or something else kind.

Thanks so much,

Mr. J
