Pulp and Paper Scholarship Opportunity for Seniors

Dear High School Teachers and Guidance Counselors,

We are very excited to share with you the exciting merit-based scholarships and job opportunities available through the UMaine Pulp and Paper Foundation (UMPPF). Our scholarship brochure can be viewed on our website here.  Please share with any interested students! Hardcopies have been mailed to guidance offices.  Please contact us to order more.

The UMPPF’s total number of scholarship recipients has grown over 130 students thanks to increasing demand for UMPPF engineers and strong corporate and alumni support.  The more than 60 corporate members of the UMPPF have more job opportunities available than we have students to fill them, so our students enjoy multiple job offers both in-state and beyond.

In total, the UMPPF will award over $900,000 in Full and Partial Tuition scholarships this year to students enrolled in the UMaine College of Engineering.  High school students planning to enroll at UMaine and study Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer or Civil Engineering as well as Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology or Forestry are eligible for these scholarships.  Recipients are required to complete at least two semesters of PAID co-op or internship experience in the Pulp and Paper Industry, and they graduate in four years with the significant advantage of nearly a year’s worth of experience (or more) in their field.  The UMPPF student body will continue to grow to meet the demands of industry, who have come to appreciate the knowledge, experience, and strong work ethic of UMPPF engineers.

The application deadline for current high school seniors is December 31, 2023.  More information can be found in  on our website at https://umaineppf.org/scholarships/

If there are any questions or you would like more copies of the brochure please don’t hesitate to contact me at 207-581-2297 or via email at [email protected].

Sincerely yours,

Jen
